My Story

My Story

Crystal Hoban, LMFT

I completed my undergraduate education at The State University of New York at Albany, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2013. I then went on to complete my Master’s education at Falk College at Syracuse University, where I received a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and an Advanced Certificate in Child Therapy in 2018.

While working on my Master’s degree I became involved with the LGBTQ+ community, working as a clinician on the trans team. My work with the trans-team involved specialized sensitivity trainings to better serve my clients. During this time, my role as a clinician required me to perform transition readiness assessments and education as well as advocate client needs to other members of their healthcare team involved with transition.

I have additional experience working as a mental health counselor and licensed therapist with survivors of domestic violence, physical, emotional and sexual abuse, drug exposure trauma, neglect and child sex trafficking. This experience along with my years working closely with child advocacy centers within central New York have driven me to practice as a trauma informed therapist – a service that I take great pride in offering my clients.

I am proud to announce that I am now a certified trauma-informed care practitioner.
